Pakistani Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gets notice from ED

Popular Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan gets notice from Enforcement Directorate today in violation of foreign exchange. ED slapped notice on Khan for foreign exchange violations to near about Rs. 2 crore.


The case dates back to 2014 when the probe agency started an investigation against him under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

In 2011 at Delhi airport, the singer was caught by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials for allegedly carrying an undeclared amount of USD 1.24 lakh. The singer, however, has denied any offence. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan then justified his act that he is carrying that amount for cash because he was travelling with his group.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, is the nephew of well known Sufi singer Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He debuted as a playback singer in Bollywood with the movie 'Paap' in 2003. But became popular with the hit track Jiya Dhadak Dhadak in Kunal Kemmu’s 2005 film Kalyug. Since the he sang in many hit Bollywood tracks like Tere Mast Mast Do Nain (Dabangg), Teri Ore (Singh Is Kinng), Sajda (My Name Is Khan), Teri Meri (Bodyguard) and Jag Jhoomeya (Sultan).

He also judged reality shows in India.
