Veteran actor Kader Khan, who breathed his last on 31st December, was buried at a cemetery in Canada. Huge fans and followers are gathered to pay their last respect to the departed soul. A video of the funeral and prayer meet was shared online.
After a prolonged illness, he died at the age of 81. At his funeral, his son Sarfaraz said, “My father loved you all so much that he never differentiated between us three brothers and all of you,” he said. “He used to tell us that if any one of us refused to care for him, one of you will care for him,” he added.
“The last rites will be performed here in Canada as we have our entire family here. He (Khan) is going to be buried at approximately 2:30 pm as per Canadian time at Meadowvale cemetery,” Sarfaraz told PTI.
Talking to IANS about how his father was ignored by the film industry, Sarfaraz said, “It is the way the Indian film industry has become now. There are too many fragmented camps and loyalties. The out-of-sight, out-of-mind mentality can’t be helped. My father always told us, his sons, not to expect anything from anybody and we grew up with the belief that one must do what is required in life and expect nothing in return,” he said.
After his knee surgery in India, Khan did not make any effort to walk and confined himself to wheel-chair.
Reportedly, he suffered from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative disease that causes loss of balance, difficulty in walking and dementia.
