Kareena Kapoor Khan denies contesting Lok Sabha election

Kareena Kapoor Khan rubbishes the report that she is contesting Lok Sabha election from Bhapal.

The ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress was quoted as saying, "There is no truth to these reports. I have not been approached for this whatsoever. My focus is and only will be movies.”

Daya back, it was reported that Congress leaders Guddu Chauhan and Anees Khan want Kareena Kapoor Khan to contest Lok Sabha election from Bhopal. The two politicians argues that Kareena has huge fan following and it will work in the favour of the party. The young voters will vote for her. For decades, BJP is ruling Bhopal.

The Pataudi’s have a strong connection with Bhopal. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, father of actor Saif Ali Khan, was born in Bhopal. His grandfather was the last ruling Nawab of Bhopal.

The fact that Kareena is the daughter-in-law of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi will attract the local voters. Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore and Soha Ali Khan often visit Bhopal.

Chauhan and Khan are eager to meet Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath to discuss the matter further.

If we look back at the past history, then we will see that in 1991 Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had contested Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal but the Nawab was soundly defeated by BJP's Sushil Chandra Verma.

Pataudi lost with more than one lakh votes.

BJP took a dig at the Congress for Kareena Kapoor's candidacy.

"Congress ke paas neta nahi bache isliye abhineta ke sahare chunaav ladna chah rahe hain (Congress does not have a strong candidate, so it is now trying to field an actor)," said Alok Sanjar, current MP of Bhopal.
