Sooraj Barjatya’s father Raj Kumar Barjatya passes away, Bollywood mourns

Producer Raj Kumar Barjatya of Rajshri Films and father of Sooraj Barjatya passed away in Mumbai at Mumbai’s Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, this morning. His demise was shared by the official twitter handle of Rajshri. The message reads, “It is with profound grief that we mourn the loss of Raj Kumar Barjatya, father of Sooraj Barjatya. May his soul Rest In Peace.”


The funeral of Raj Kumar Barjatya will be held at 4.30 pm at Worli Crematorium, near Four Seasons Hotel, Worli.

Many Bollywood celebrities expressed their grief over the demise of Raj Kumar Barjayta.

Sharing the the news on social media, trade analyst Komal Nahta wrote, “Terribly shocking news. Shri RajKumarBarjatya passed away some minutes back at RelianceHurkissondas Hospital. Can’t believe this. Met him just a week back at his Prabhadevi office. He spent so much time with me and my family. He looked perfectly alright then. And now, he’s gone!”

Ashoke Pandit also paid condolences to Barjatya family on social media and wrote, “Shocked and saddened to learn of Rajkumar Barjatya ji’s demise... Raj Babu - as he was fondly known -Heartfelt condolences to @SoorajBarjatya ji & the entire Barjatya family and #Rajshri parivaar.”

Raj Kumar Barjatya produced blockbuster films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Vivaah and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo under the Rajshri Productions banner. All the above mentioned films were directed by his son Sooraj Barjatya.

Actor Anupam Kher remembers Barjatya, "Deeply saddened to know about the demise of Raj Kumar Barjatya ji. Had known him since my first film Saaransh. Most humble and amazingly knowledgeable human being. Had a childlike curiosity. I loved speaking to him for hours about goodness. He practiced it. Will miss him. #OmShanti."

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posts condolence message for the Barjatya family on social media. He wrote: "Shocked and saddened to learn of Rajkumar Barjatya ji's demise... Raj Babu - as he was affectionately called - was an extremely soft-spoken person... Heartfelt condolences to Sooraj, the Barjatya family and #Rajshri parivaar."

Raj Kumar Barjatya is survived by his wife Sudha Barjatya and son Sooraj Barjatya. Rajshri Productions was founded by Raj Kumar Barjatya's father Tarachand Barjatya.
